the SPIRIT OF SHARING
San Jose vegetarianHouse, CA. USA June 30. 1994.This world doesn't belong to us. It does, but many people don't share. They don't like to share. Actuallythis world belongs to everyone including the animals. That's whywe follow the vegetarian policy. This world came into existencedue to the force of the thinking power of all the beings thatexist on this planet . We wanted this place, so it exists, includingthe animals. But when we came into this world, we thought it belongedto us. Everyone thought it belonged to them. Therefore, we started to getrid of the others - the red, the black, the yellow and whatever. The red wanted to get rid of the white. The white got rid of theblack, et cetera. Then the black, white and yellow got rid ofthe animals, et cetera. We have forgotten that we are co-owners,not the sole owners of this world.
That is why we shouldnot kill animals, we should not eat them. Of course, especially, we shouldnot kill any other human beings. But in the name of politics, national love or religion, sometimes, we kill. We justify ourkilling with many glorious excuses. Actually, this is not theright thing, because we kill today and then the next life we'llbe killed.
Therefore, war alwayscontinues within our world. Then we always wonder "why."There is nothing to wonder. When we sow something, we reap thefruit thereof. Even the Bible says so: As you sow, so shallyou reap. For those of us who have not suffered effects underwar or any other conflicts, that means we have not sown the seedof violence. So if we continue to keep it that way, even if wedo not practice any meditation, even if we do not worship God- I mean officially, registered-wise -- then we will be born againas safe, secure, healthy human beings. Because we do not havethe seed of damage, of war, of violence. If we can remind eachother not to kill animals, then of course how could we kill humanbeings, and war will eliminate itself from the root.
